Message from the National Association of Manufacturers
over 3 years ago – Thu, Jan 07, 2021 at 03:01:12 AM

Hi everyone,

We are a US-based company.  And today is a sad day for the United States.  So I would like to share a message from National Association of Manufacturers President and CEO Jay Timmons, reproduced below.

---

Washington, D.C. – National Association of Manufacturers President and CEO Jay Timmons released the following statement in response to large groups of armed Trump adherents who have violently stormed the U.S. Capitol building as members of Congress meet to count the electoral votes:

“Armed violent protestors who support the baseless claim by outgoing President Trump that he somehow won an election that he overwhelmingly lost have stormed the U.S. Capitol today, attacking police officers and first responders, because Trump refused to accept defeat in a free and fair election. Throughout this whole disgusting episode, Trump has been cheered on by members of his own party, adding fuel to the distrust that has enflamed violent anger. This is not law and order. This is chaos. It is mob rule. It is dangerous. This is sedition and should be treated as such. The outgoing president incited violence in an attempt to retain power, and any elected leader defending him is violating their oath to the Constitution and rejecting democracy in favor of anarchy. Anyone indulging conspiracy theories to raise campaign dollars is complicit. Vice President Pence, who was evacuated from the Capitol, should seriously consider working with the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to preserve democracy.

This is not the vision of America that manufacturers believe in and work so hard to defend. Across America today, millions of manufacturing workers are helping our nation fight the deadly pandemic that has already taken hundreds of thousands of lives. We are trying to rebuild an economy and save and rebuild lives. But none of that will matter if our leaders refuse to fend off this attack on America and our democracy -- because our very system of government, which underpins our very way of life, will crumble.”

December Shipments
over 3 years ago – Sat, Jan 02, 2021 at 08:22:25 AM

Hi Backers,

Another short-but-sweet update.

Out of the 4,850 orders that are for December shipment, 4,441 have shipped.

There are a remaining 409 orders for this batch still yet to go out.  We are waiting to hear back from our shipping partner, floship, on when they expect these to go out.

From our understanding, floship is now closed for the year until January 4th, so we will likely hear more from them on the 4th of January as to when these are expected to ship from their facility.

We will circle back as floship and we learn more.

Thanks & Happy New Year

Quick floship Status Update
over 3 years ago – Thu, Dec 31, 2020 at 03:34:30 PM

Hi everyone!

This is a very short/brief update, but a good one!

Floship has started shipping!  They shipped out 1,513 orders today, and are planning to ship out 2,928 orders tomorrow (December 31st).

So by close of business on December 31st, 4,441 orders will have been shipped.

This is not every last unit, but close to it.  There will be some straggler shipments because some couriers are temporarily closing because of the peaking pandemic.  And some countries are outright undeliverable currently (because of the number of couriers who have temporarily ceased operations).  We will be reaching out individually if this is the case for you, to let you know when to expect your package (to the best of our knowledge).

Now that these our shipping from floship to backers, tomorrow we will be posting the first videos in our Stretch Goal 1: Crash Course series of videos around OAK.

Stay tuned.  And we're all super excited to see what you build with these devices.

Thanks,

The OpenCV AI Kit Team

Community Friday #14: Executing a Plan
over 3 years ago – Sat, Dec 26, 2020 at 12:57:23 AM

Seasons Greetings Backers,

First, we wanted to send out holiday greetings to all of you, whatever that may mean. Hopefully this time brings joy to you all in a year that has certainly been an outlier in recent times.

We have a bit of an update to share with you today. Floship was working on a plan for us. A few companies they use for logistics have outright cancelled deliveries temporarily which caused some shuffling. So that’s why we hadn’t heard the exact details when we last talked about fulfillment of our campaign, but we have those now.

Shipping for the December items should begin on the 29th, and most if not all should be completed by the 31st. That said they did forewarn us that in general there are large backlogs around the world right now, so that delivery times are likely to take longer than expected. We don’t entirely know how that’s going to turn out yet. It’s likely that most places will see delivery in January, but it’s going to be a bit unpredictable. We are using AfterShip to send out tracking (where available), so you can expect to receive notifications about your delivery.

There are a total of 4850 orders going out in the first batch, and of those, 105 require attention. This could be because of some part of the address being incomplete or in an unexpected format, or requirements for the courier used in certain regions. So if you’re affected we will reach out to you directly via email.

That’s all for this week folks. We’ll be back next week with more shipping news, and some project updates in general. Hope you’re able to spend some quality time today, whether that’s catching a break or spending it with family. It’s a very exciting time for us, as soon you’ll have OAK kits in your hands and we can’t wait to see what some of you do with them!

Merry Christmas!

Thanks,

The OpenCV AI Kit Team
